The Princeton Battlefield State Park marks the site of the fierce 1777 battle between General George Washington's troops and a force of British Regulars. Points of significance on the 85 acre plot of land include the Mercer Oak, named after General Hugh Mercer who fell during the battle, a stone patio marking the grave of the American and British soldiers who died in the battle, and
the Clarke House Museum. Visitors can also hike trails, birdwatch, or cross-country ski in the park. Address: 500 Mercer Road, Princeton NJ 08540-4810
